Why do some Hispanic people look Asian?

I'm just curious. I know a lot of Hispanics at my school (not SPANISH, the ones from Spain, but Hispanic, like El Salvador, Peru, etc. Sorry people get confused sometimes) and they seem to have some Asian features, mainly eyes. Now I'm not trying to sound racist, because I am part Asian too (Filipino). Do some Hispanic heritages trace back to Asian countries? A Peruvian friend of mine said that Peru was invaded by Japan at some point in time, is that true?
